PlantWave at SXSW 2023!

PlantWave is bringing Plant Music to SXSW by presenting a series of events & experiences that create harmonious sound environments powered by nature including a Plant Music Lounge, Panel Discussions and a Live Music Showcase.

Plant Music is an emerging genre of music whereby electrical signals of plants are translated into sound.

Let’s tune into nature with PlantWave, together.

March 10th – 16th:
The Plant Music Lounge

Our lounge features live music generated by plants using PlantWave, a device that translates real-time data from living organisms into music.

An oasis in the matrix, this meditative zone is intended to heighten connection with nature, leaving you feeling relaxed, connected, and inspired.

Stop by to recharge amidst the heightened activity of the conference or explore our series of Plant Music events throughout the week, including breathwork, sound baths, and interspecies concerts with humans and plants.

Joe Patitucci is a pioneer in the creation of plant music, a practice of translating electrical impedance within plants into sound. Joe has been designing sonic art installations for museums, festivals, and public spaces worldwide since 2012 and is co-creator of PlantWave, a product that allows anyone to listen to plant music at home.

Housekeys is the project of Tiffiny Costello, a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Fort Worth, Texas. Her music blurs the lines between ethereal genres like ambient, post-rock, and neoclassical.

From Electrical Signals to Wondrous Music

“I started making plant music in 2012 as a personal exploration of where creativity comes from.” says PlantWave artist & CEO Joe Patitucci.

“Could the energy that inspires a plant to grow in a particular way be the same energy that inspires humans to create art? I quickly found that the music created by putting sensors on plants was the music I had been wanting to create my whole life. It’s my pleasure to share this endless stream of harmonious music with you through PlantWave.”

Tune Into Nature, Wherever You Are

Our mission is to amplify the connection between humans and the natural world. Through the creation of pioneering generative music and art over the last decade, we've developed technology that allows anyone to tune into nature with plant music.
